January 2008 "I just thought I'd drop you an email and let you know that I actually had an opportunity to review the course material for another wedding planner certification course prior to enrolling in your course. The course was from the Professional Career Development Institute (PCDI), a course I originally considered before I enrolled in this one. I am SO GLAD I DID NOT REGISTER WITH THEM. It's unbelievable. The manuals read like they are trying to teach 8 year olds how to be bridal consultants. There is a whole chapter on how to follow directions. They repeat these directions over and over again on how to study, when to study, how to set goals, etc. Its just a bunch of stuff to fill up pages and make it look like there's more than there is. The tests at the end of each lesson are a joke. I'm sure that unchallenging approach works for some people, but definitely not me!! Who would take certification from a program like that seriously? All I can say is that The SuperWeddings Certification course is 100% times better. The assignments were more in depth, more detailed, and gave me a better understanding of concepts rather than just making me memorize things, which anyone can do, but that doesnt mean they'll acutally know how to do this. THIS is what is going to enable me to be a good wedding planner, have happy clients, do my job well, and therefore be successful. I am so glad I didn't choose the other course (and spend way more money). I just wanted to tell you from someone who has actually sampled other programs, yours is FAR more professional, educational, and challenging. THANK YOU. I knew this course was the way to go from the very beginning, just from reading the information on the website and then reading the testimonials. Besides knowing that this was the course I wanted from the very beginning I do have a friend who is also studying wedding planning through a different course, so I do know what her course entails and the price she's paying. I found that your course offers much more insight into the industry and provides you with every possible aspect of professionally planning a wedding and running your own business. "Linda, The wedding this weekend was quite the experience! I did not meet the bride until about a month ago; therefore, I only had to help with last minute details. Boy was I glad I had read the first section of this course! I was able to truly exercise the problem solving section. My main job was the reception, so I did not attend the actual ceremony. I arrived at the reception site at 3:00 p.m. to make sure the cakes were delivered and the caterer arrived on time, etc. At 6:30 I realized the band had not arrived. The caterer and I decided it would be best if I called the band (I had not helped with this part of the planning). The band leader answered the phone and told me that he would not be there until 9:00 p.m. (The mother of the bride had told me to expect them at 9:00 a.m. !!!!) After explaining the situation to him, he quickly made his way to the reception hall. The ice sculpture arrived at 6:45 p.m. ... BROKEN. The shrimp table was bare, so I called my husband to bring in back up crystal containers from my collection...no one knew the difference. The next bump... the bride and groom did not arrive at the reception until 9:15 p.m....the photographer informed me, while we were waiting, that his time was up at 9:30p.m. I had exactly 15 minutes to get the bride and groom to cut their cakes, make a toast and have their first dance in order to have pictures to mark the occasion. I DID IT!!!! Everyone was soooo impressed, they wanted my card (the photographer, the limo driver, the videographer, as well as a couple of the bridesmaids who will be getting married within the next year). All in all, I'd say it was a success! Many guests were suprised at how much pressure I had taken off of the mother of the bride. I came upon your website and became interested in finding out more about being a certified bridal coordinator. I just produced my 2nd wedding expo. The first in August went really well; the one I just held last weekend was incredible, though. I had 40 different vendors including some very large chains, an hour-long fashion show, large give-aways like a trip to Jamaica, and nearly 500 people in attendance. My vendors were all very happy, really lavished praise about the organization and professionalism of the show, and I believe, will easily sign up for next year! "While planning my wedding, I did a great deal of research on the Internet. One of the sites I used a lot was SuperWeddings.com. After the wedding, I started doing research about getting into the consulting business and bought a book about becoming a wedding planner. The book recommended taking courses to become a certified Wedding Planner. I looked at the courses they recommended but I didn't want to spend as much money as they were charging so I did more research on the Internet and ended up back on SuperWeddings.com and read about your course. As soon as you give me the go ahead I'm printing my business stationary and starting on my vendor base with brochures and business cards in hand! Thanks so much! This has really been very informative. This course was both challenging and a lot of fun. It really got me motivated to finally "just do it"! For the money I must say it is quite impressive. There are so many suggestions and creative ideas offered that I probably would not have thought of. Like for instance, the silver tray of chocolate truffles&ldots;LOVE that idea and plan to use it right away when consulting for that initial contract. Its those little extra details that will set me apart and I appreciate the efforts that are inspired by the author of the course. Would I recommend this course to someone who is interested in becoming a professional wedding consultant? If I lived in a larger area I probably would. I liked that it is stated that not every single person applying for certification would automatically get it -- that it is based on each person and how they have presented themselves and their ideas... I like that there is a business coach/mentor and that there is an ability to get some support once the certification is awarded. I liked that there is a certification and the ability to belong to an association if I desire. I lliked that there could be seminars to go to later on if one chooses, but that it is not a requirement in order to get the information to get started. I like that it is a self-paced program".

I used this knowledge when I worked on a wedding in the summer; I would go with the bride and groom when dealing with vendors, and help guide them with the procedures. It made me realize how the brides can be emotional to a point that they don't realize what's in their best interest because they are looking for a dream day and this is all that they see in front of their eyes.
